Terrace House provides residential medically supervised substance use withdrawal (detoxification) services at 291 Elm Street, Buffalo, NY.

We provide 24-hour/7 day care to adults with substance use disorders who need detox support, counseling, observation, nursing and medical treatment, but do not require hospital-based care.
Services include discharge planning to Terrace House Stabilization Services and/or linkages to other continuing care services after discharge.

Who is eligible?

We accept adults (age 18 and over) who are actively abusing opiate drugs, alcohol and/or benzodiazepines and are at risk for withdrawal.

How do I make an appointment?

Appointments can be scheduled by calling (716) 831-1800 and pressing “1” to reach our patient engagement specialists. Please call between 8:00 am – 7:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00am-3:00pm Saturday and Sunday.

How long will I be there?

Length of stay varies based on patient’s clinical and medical needs as determined by the clinical team. The average stay for medically supervised detox varies as well.

How do I pay?

Insurance eligibility verification is required. Your insurance may cover some or all of your treatment. Persons without insurance will have their cases reviewed and can meet with our financial case manager to discuss further options.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring a photo ID, insurance information, and at least three days of clothing. You may not bring electronic devices, outside bedding, cigarettes or e-cigarettes. All prescribed medications must be brought in at the time of admission.

Am I allowed visitors?

Visitation is not allowed during this period of treatment.

What happens after I am medically stable?

Discharge planning begins at the time of your first assessment and continues throughout treatment. When you are discharged you will be referred to the appropriate level of care for your needs. This may include continued stay in a Stabilization program at a Horizon Village residential setting, a referral to an inpatient rehabilitation program, or outpatient services. We stress the importance of continuing treatment after discharge and the development of an effective relapse prevention plan.
