Horizon Health Services Opens Its First Substance Abuse Counseling Facility in Genesee County

Nationwide, of the 1.6 million young people between 12-18 with serious drug and alcohol problems, fewer than one in 10 receive treatment.

Buffalo, NY – Horizon Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive provider of fully-integrated mental health, behavioral health, chemical dependency, medical and vocational treatment and recovery services in Western New York, has opened an outpatient clinic at 314 Ellicott Street in Batavia to serve the residents of Genesee and Orleans Counties and nearby communities.

The Horizon Village Recovery Center offers chemical dependency treatment and services to those ages 12 and up. In addition to group and individual counseling, the Center also offers nursing assessment and soon will be adding educational and vocational training.

“Chemical dependency is a significant issue for every family and every community,” says Horizon president and CEO, Anne Constantino. “A needs assessment conducted by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) determined there was a need for additional services in Genesee and Orleans Counties.”

The goal at the Center is to help consumers achieve total abstinence, which they accomplish by working closely with the consumer, as well as doctors, probation officers, mental health counselors and social services agencies. “Typically, a consumer starts with two group and one individual session per week,” says Rachel Anauo, CASAC, LMHC, who manages the facility for Horizon. “But we assess individually, and are prepared to offer whatever the consumer needs.”

Horizon Health Services is the largest and most comprehensive provider of fully-integrated mental health, behavioral health, chemical dependency, medical and vocational treatment and recovery services in Western New York. The not-for-profit organization operates 10 outpatient clinics in Erie, Niagara and Genesee counties and a 50-bed residential facility in Sanborn, NY.
